Turkey's Seafarers and Pilot Captains Regulation (in force since 29 August 2024) defines three yacht captain certificate tiers — 149 GT, 499 GT and unlimited — each requiring an ROC radio certificate, specific curriculum training, and graduated sea service from 3 to 24 months, with progression possible from a lower tier via added sea service.
Turkey's Regulation on Seafarers and Pilot Captains (in force since 29 August 2024, Official Gazette No. 32647) implements the STCW Convention and sets certification, training and watch-keeping rules for all classes of seafarers, including a dedicated yacht class of captain certificates: 149 GT, 499 GT and unlimited tonnage.
A 149 GT yacht captain certificate requires an ROC radio operator certificate plus either relevant training and 3 months of sea service, or an able-seaman qualification with 6 months of service and training. A 499 GT certificate requires A-II curriculum training with 3 months of sea service, or 12 months of service on a 149 GT certificate, or an able-seaman/boatswain qualification with training. An unlimited yacht captain certificate requires 24 months of service on a 499 GT certificate, or A-II/2 curriculum training with 3 months of sea service. Holders of officer-of-the-watch certificates or higher may also be issued yacht captain certificates on request.

Diğer gemiadamı yeterliklerinden yat kaptanlığına geçiş mümkün mü?
Evet. Sınırlı veya uzakyol vardiya zabiti ve üstü yeterliklere sahip olanlara, talep etmeleri hâlinde İngilizce dil kodu aranmaksızın yat kaptanlığı belgesi verilebilir.
