Bosphorus Boat Show 2026: What to Look For When Viewing Yachts at the Show

Son güncelleme: 21 October 2026

Kısa yanıt

Before the show, settle your budget, how you will use the boat and the length range you want. On board, ask about the layout, engine hours, maintenance history and delivery terms, and take notes and photos of each boat. Before committing, arrange a sea trial and an independent survey. The Bosphorus Boat Show 2026 takes place at Ataköy Marina, Istanbul, from 18 to 26 October 2026.

The Bosphorus Boat Show 2026 is open at Ataköy Marina in Istanbul from 18 to 26 October. Opening hours are 11:00–19:00 from 18 to 25 October and 11:00–18:00 on the final day, 26 October. Marine Group Yachting International is exhibiting at stands C175–C176.

A boat show is one of the few places where you can compare boats from different yards, in different sizes and layouts, on the same afternoon. The catch is that after a dozen boarding visits the details start to blur. The list below is for visitors who want the show to feed into a real decision rather than a pleasant day out.

Before you go

The biggest time saver is deciding three things in advance: budget, intended use and length range. Will the boat be used for day trips at weekends, or will you live aboard for a few weeks each summer? How many people will sleep on board? Are you planning to have crew? Your answers will rule out half the stands before you arrive.

When you set a budget, include running costs as well as the purchase price. Berthing, insurance, maintenance and fuel vary a great deal with size and use, and asking about them at the show shows you the real difference between two boats.

Plan your timing too. Weekdays are usually quieter, so you can board more easily and spend longer with brokers and yard representatives.

What to check on board

Show boats are presented at their best, and lighting, styling and crowds all shape a first impression. Look past them to these points:

  • Layout and use: Do the cabin positions, number of heads, galley location and shaded deck space suit the way you will use the boat?
  • Engine room: Is access easy? A boat whose service points are hard to reach costs more over the years.
  • Engine and generator hours: On pre-owned boats, hours and service records matter as much as the price.
  • Materials and build quality: Hinges, the inside of lockers and the routing of cables and pipes reveal quality you will not see at first glance.

Photograph every boat and jot down a few notes. By the evening it is surprisingly hard to remember which cabin belonged to which boat.

Questions to ask

At each stand, it is worth asking:

  • What is the delivery date, and which equipment is included in the price?
  • For a pre-owned boat, how many owners has it had, and where and how regularly was it serviced?
  • What is the flag and registration status, and in which country and with which documents will the sale be completed?
  • Is a sea trial and an independent survey possible?

The answers tell you whether the boat is right for you before any talk of price.

You do not have to decide at the show

Show offers and special terms are common and worth considering, but buying a boat without a sea trial and an independent survey is risky. On pre-owned boats in particular, the condition of the hull, machinery and electrical systems only becomes clear through a survey. Registration, tax and contract terms should also be settled before you commit.

If a boat catches your eye, working through a broker after the show makes it easier to compare options and negotiate on solid ground. A broker can also find boats that match your criteria but are not on display.

Marine Group at the show

At stands C175–C176 we are answering questions about buying, selling and chartering yachts. You can ask about the boats in our sales portfolio or, if you are thinking of selling, talk through the valuation process. We are also hosting a seminar at our stand on Friday 23 October.

If you cannot make it to the show, just tell us what you are looking for and we will share suitable options after the show.

Sıkça Sorulan Sorular

When and where is the Bosphorus Boat Show 2026?

The show runs from 18 to 26 October 2026 at Ataköy Marina, Istanbul. It is open 11:00–19:00 from 18 to 25 October and 11:00–18:00 on 26 October.

Where is the Marine Group stand?

Marine Group Yachting International is at stands C175–C176.

Should I buy a yacht I see at the show straight away?

Take your time. Especially with pre-owned boats, deciding without a sea trial and an independent survey is risky. Registration, tax and contract terms should also be clarified first.

Can I get information about boats that are not on display?

Yes. Share your criteria with us at the stand and we can show you suitable boats that are not exhibited at the show.
